Family holiday rentals
Family holidays are sacred! To make them a success, Familytrip has selected numerous rentals all over France.
Why choose a rental for a family holiday?
Rental accommodation allows families to remain independent. They can cook for themselves as they will find a fully equipped kitchen in their rental. We're not in hotel-style rooms with the obligation to eat on the run or go to restaurants every day. The family's budget remains under control.
Rental accommodation also gives you the feeling of being back at home, with bedrooms, a living room and a balcony, but this time with a view of the Alpilles or the sea! Even if the rentals don't necessarily have a personalised decor, it's a chance to get together in your own little family cocoon and forge strong bonds between family members that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Who doesn't remember their holidays when, as a child, they saw the sea for the first time? Or tasted the joys of the mountains, the countryside or skiing? Family holidays are the best holidays, without a doubt!
The different types of family holiday rentals
In the range of family holiday rentals, you can find small flats like studios with "cabin" corners. Space is ultra-optimised! In the entrance hall, there is often a cupboard and an alcove with 2 bunk beds. This alcove can be called a night corner or mountain corner. There's also a bathroom (or shower room) and WC, which can be separate. Then you come to the main room, with the fully equipped kitchen: all the cooking utensils (saucepans, frying pans, etc.) as well as the cutlery you need to eat or prepare your meal. These ultra-optimised flats are often small. We tend to compare the surface area of these flats with the living space of our main home. But comparison is not reason! After all, you don't arrive on holiday with your whole house on your back! We only have a few clothes and things (board games, a few books...) So our family holiday rental doesn't need to be as big as our home!
As well as studio flats, there are also flats larger than a studio (2 rooms with 1 separate bedroom, 3 rooms with 2 bedrooms, etc.), chalets, houses, mobile homes and even villas with private swimming pools! In fact, having a house with a private pool in the Vendée is great, but a private heated pool is even better. The weather isn't the same as in Provence. This is specified in the descriptions of the accommodation on the site/ In short, there is a wide range of family holiday rentals to suit all budgets and family needs. You don't have to have a villa with a private swimming pool, which adds considerably to the cost of your stay! Instead, you can opt to rent a flat in a residence or a house on a housing estate with access to a communal swimming pool or top-class services for family holidays. You can think of evening entertainment or children's clubs so that the children can get together with other children their age while the parents take a well-deserved rest or organise a little activity.
.
For large families, the idea of a studio apartment with a mini-balcony is enough to make you shudder! But we have rentals to suit all families! Most of the time, large families appreciate as many bedrooms as possible. We can have destinations that have more than enough! For example, 7-room flats, so you've counted right, with 6 bedrooms! Large families will certainly find them too big for their tastes, but these holiday accommodations are ideal for family reunions. Each bedroom can have its own bathroom. For a family reunion, you can also opt to have your own accommodation in a holiday centre, campsite or similar. It's better to have your own accommodation from time to time! To avoid offending mother-in-law, you can of course arrange to have accommodation close to each other. We'll be able to share the garden if we can't share the night, which will be quite enough.
For parents with children who might feel a little cramped on a balcony or terrace. You can find a gîte with a garden in various parts of France at Familytrip. A garden can be essential at certain ages! On Familytrip, you'll find outdoor accommodation on campsites: mobile homes, chalets, lodges and converted tents. If you don't have space in your accommodation, you'll have space outside. So there's something to suit all budgets and tastes.
Finally to preserve privacy, we only offer whole rentals for families. No intrusion of other travellers into the holiday or other such mishaps! We only offer professional rentals but no private rentals. Why this choice? First of all, it's the assurance of having a reactive and appropriate response to a problem encountered during your stay. There's always a technician or cleaning team on hand to help at any time! And that's invaluable! What's more, these professional rentals are subject to more stringent specifications by Atout France, in particular to obtain the famous classification. Finally, in the event of a major problem, we'll be able to relocate you to another destination, which is difficult for a private individual to do.
Tricks and tricks to lighten your holiday budget
Location is the sinews of war when you're looking to book a family holiday rental. By the sea, you want to be as close to the beach as possible. In the mountains you want to be as close as possible to the heart of the resort in summer or at the foot of the slopes in winter. But the best-placed accommodation is also the most expensive for families. Familytrip has compiled a large number of family-friendly deals all over France, so you can find the best value for money. Familytrip has selected family holiday rentals 4 or 5 km from the beaches, but at the foot of which there is a cycle path that takes you to the town centre and the beach. It's safe for children, and reassuring for parents. In the mountains, you could be 1km from the slopes, but have the free resort shuttle bus pick you up and take you to the foot of the slopes. These cheaper pitches will take the pressure off your overall holiday budget. For example, on a ski holiday you can save up to €800 on a pitch, i.e. for the same price with ski passes and equipment included!
To pay less, better than an offer is to opt for the beach but for a lake beach! Try it the kids find it's the same. True, there are no waves, but a lake beach is often supervised and the joys of swimming are there for all the family! Lakefront rental prices are half the price of seaside rentals. Try it for a year and you won't regret it!
Another tip, the time of booking is key for holidays. Yes a villa with private pool is expensive. But if you book as soon as sales open, you'll find promotional rates even for the south, even for Provence! In fact, hoteliers always start from scratch and, to boost their sales, they offer special rates in a short space of time to reassure themselves. Familytrip has a loyalty offer that can give you great savings from the second time you book.
Familytrip has also selected activities for you to do with your family near the holiday rentals. This could be a sporting activity such as tree climbing or accompanied hiking. It could be discovering a zoo or an aquarium. It could be a wellness activity with a spa to share with or without the children... Finally, it could be a thrilling activity at an amusement park!
On services inside the campsite or residence you can trim the budget. For example, a campsite with a children's club is more expensive than a traditional campsite. If you want to leave the children in the care of a club once or twice a week, it's better to choose a campsite without a club and go to the beach club and only pay for the days you use. This can quickly add up to a nice saving and you can put it towards a rental with a larger garden, doing an activity or going to a restaurant in the village.
.
Finally, if you go in the opposite direction to others: to the mountains in summer and the sea in winter, you'll get excellent rates, you'll have fewer people around you, and you'll be able to go away more in the end! In spring and autumn, you can go wherever you like - accommodation is cheap almost everywhere in France at these times of year! You can go away for a week every holiday, and the kids will be happy!
Places where Familytrip has found rentals for a family holiday
Familytrip has criss-crossed France. The result was a selection of over 600 rentals. The selection is very wide, from a mas in Provence with a large terrace overlooking the Alpilles in Saint Remy de Provence, to a flat in a Paris residence with a balcony near Saint Augustin, a gite with a garden in a small village in the Corrèze at Meyrignac l'église or a 14-person chalet at the foot of the slopes at Alpe d'Huez with a private sauna! The selection is vast, as you will have realised.
Familytrip has visited these accommodations in order to guarantee a certain quality. Familytrip also listens to the opinions of its customers who stay there. Familytrip removes from its list all accommodation that has an average score of less than 6 out of 10 in the last 5 reviews. This ensures good overall quality.
