The coast is made up of communes, the departments of Finistère in Brittany, Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Pays de la Loire... It is divided into several parts. It begins in the north-west of France in Brittany with the Iroise and Cornwall coasts, then descends towards the centre where we find the Fleurs/Jade coasts. Finally, it ends in the south west with the best-known Agent and Basque coasts.
The coast runs along the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Biscay, here are these three main regions:

Here are our favourites for the best seaside resorts on the Atlantic! In first place we find Biarritz, la Baule, Sables d'Olonne, Hossegor, Hourtin, la Palmyre, Biscarrosse, Arcachon, Pornic and finally Saint-Jean de Monts. All these resorts have one thing in common: the beach! Coastline means seaside, with all kinds of activities on offer for families.

The different types of accommodation
Familytrip allows you to book your stay and offer a week or several nights camping in starred accommodation ranging from 1 star to 5. Campsites are often equipped with bungalows, tipis, chalets, mobile homes.
Don't know what type of accommodation to choose? Don't panic, you can look at the reviews of previous customers to make up your own mind or contact us for more information about room or rental accommodation. In some accommodation, you will have a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and another with 2 single beds, a storage area and a bathroom with shower and WC. In other cases, you may not have showers and WCs directly inside. A pitch with shared toilets and showers is set up in the centre of the campsite.
For peaceful nights, what could be better than listening to the sound of the ocean, to fall asleep in peace? Indeed the sound of the ocean brings benefits such as serenity, relaxation and acts as an anti-stress. At the end of your holiday, you'll leave feeling relaxed and with new memories. Activities on offer by the beach and at the campsite
The campsites offer entertainment for your children during your holiday, starting in the morning and ending in the evening with the presence of entertainers. Enjoy role-playing evenings, quizzes, bingo games and much more...
In addition, play areas are available to entertain your children, such as play parks, an indoor swimming pool, or a swimming pool with inflatable infrastructures... But the campsite also offers activities that will allow them to overcome their shyness and have fun such as singing, theatre. Your children will be delighted to give you a demonstration during an evening at the campsite. Excursion activities, evenings where they tell stories by the campfire, and themed outings.
Being by the coast has its advantages for family activities. You can stroll along the sandy beach, admire the scenery and of course take part in the local activity such as surfing, or ride a towed buoy, jet ski...
To ensure your children's safety during their stay, it's best to supervise them and provide them with armbands and life jackets during water activities. As far as the swimming pool is concerned, they should be equipped with sun cream, swimming trunks and suitable footwear to avoid any risk of falling. The pool is generally open from 10am to 8pm, depending on the campsite and the season. At the entrance to the pool or at reception the time slots will be displayed.
Restaurants
In the campsites you will be able to find a wide choice of catering, such as food trucks, restaurants, bars.
You can find them in the poolside area, or in the centre of the campsites.
Prices vary depending on the starred campsite but also on the formula chosen and your meals in the restaurant. You have the choice of cooking your own meals in your mobile home.

In the campsite there is usually a grocery shop open during the day, with local products from the region where you are located such as in the Landes you will find beef from Chalosse. Let yourself be tempted by a tempting offer or speciality.
Supermarket prices are high but this can always tide you over. Get out the map to find the supermarkets close to the campsite. Small home-cooked meals also do the trick well.
Since you're close to the beaches, why not take advantage of the restaurants on offer, you have a wide choice of menus. Enjoy a convivial meal with your children in front of the Atlantic Ocean, with your feet in the sand... You don't need a Michelin-starred chef's menu to enjoy a special moment.
When to go

That said, the ideal time to visit the Atlantic coast would be from May to September, as at this time of year the weather is generally mild with the fresh Atlantic Ocean breeze in summer. You'll be able to make the most of all its attractions: swimming, beaches, outdoor sports, campsites... We can already see you putting on your best smile!
What are the prices?
The price of the campsite/mobile home will depend on the area you choose, in fact the more well-known a destination you choose the higher the prices will go. For example, if you choose Saint-Jean-De-Monts or Charente-Maritime the prices will not be the same.
Charente-Maritime is close to the ocean, with campsites located by the coast, or even on the island of Saint-Georges d'Oléron. Or the best-known resort, Saint-Jean de Luz, close to Biarritz and the Spanish border. Shuttle buses can be arranged, and are often free of charge. This may depend on the location of your campsite.
For a family holiday and pleasant nights count on around a total of 1000 euros, depending on the period (high season, summer, school holidays...).
Baby packs may be free depending on the establishment, as may the shuttles that can take you to the beach...
Practical information
If you have pets, when you book make sure that the campsite you choose has the option of pets allowed. This option is often not free. If your pets are allowed, they will have to be kept on a lead, but will also be able to enjoy the holiday with you. At some campsites, a dog area may be provided so that they can play. You can also take them to the beach, although be aware that some campsites do not accept pets.
