Corsica: where is it?
To book yourself a camping holiday, Corsica is the ideal choice. Situated between Sardinia and Italy, Corsica is an island, commonly known as, the Isle of Beauty. It is part of France and its culture is strongly inspired by Italy, as is its local language. Its landscape is a contrast of mountains, forests and beaches. Its Mediterranean climate is mild in winter and dry in summer. Beaches are within easy reach, as are lakes and coves. To reach your destination, you can choose to travel by ferry or by plane. There, you can speak English, French, Italian and Corsican. The currency is the euro. The best time to go is from late April to early October. The island is packed with attractions, and is as famous for its gastronomy as it is for its landscapes, beaches and historic monuments. If you're staying in one of our Porto Vecchio accommodation options, you can go swimming on the beaches of the bay of Saint Cyprien, within a 5km radius. The camping clubs are often built right in the heart of nature so you can experience it for yourself.
The camping spirit:
Camping is all about art, it's for all tastes, all ages and all budgets. The friendly atmosphere makes it a great place for families to book their holidays. There's everything you need for an ideal family holiday. Regular family campers find it more comfortable to book a camping holiday than a hotel room. If you love meeting new people, sharing moments with your neighbours over an aperitif, being surrounded by nature without lacking in comfort, then the camping experience is for you. Camping with the family is more human and creates good memories, so you'll often want to go back. Whether you've got little ones or teenagers, the services provided by the accommodation offer entertainment for all ages, and children love the entertainment, water parks and games. You'll make memories to last a lifetime as you forge new friendships with other holidaymakers and neighbours. Camping is all about childhood in the sun, and sometimes nights under the stars. Children love the entertainment and the various attractions on offer, and parents are delighted to see that their children are just as happy, as they are to have a drink with other parents. It's a paradise for families. Book your children a little piece of paradise this summer on the island of beauty.
The different types of campsite:
Traditional camping means renting a shady spot in a secure area where you can pitch your tent or park your vehicle (motorhome, caravan) to spend the night. Those who prefer this form of camping want to take advantage of a return to peace and quiet, to cut themselves off from the rest of the world and enjoy the beauty of nature with the minimum of comfort and services on offer. It's also the cheapest option, and gives you the freedom to move around. You can also try home camping, which is free camping in exchange for work done in the home. Some people have farms or holdings in the mountains, or large properties close to the beach. You can enjoy authentic views and meet different people with different professions. Please note that wild camping is strictly forbidden in Corsica and can sometimes be dangerous.
But camping has developed and is tending towards greater comfort, with quality services on offer. We're moving upmarket but the prices are affordable, with special offers for families. Today's campsites are like campsite clubs, stretching for hundreds of metres and offering a range of services to compete with the hotel or RnB experience. These holiday clubs offer accommodation in air-conditioned mobile homes or chalets, fitted out and large enough to accommodate your whole family. They also have restaurants and supermarkets. You can enjoy the simple pleasures of life: beaches are close by, as are a number of historic monuments. You can go for a family walk, or do other activities from sunrise to sunset. The camping clubs are fully equipped, with play areas entirely dedicated to children and young people, with areas devoted to sports and more festive corners. There is also entertainment for adults and a bar. Children love the entertainment, the water parks, the slides, the play areas for the little ones and the pools. You can hire equipment for the various activities on offer. You can stay in mobile homes, which are built on wheels and have all the comforts of home. Spacious and comfortable enough for you and your children, they have a kitchenette, living room, two or three bedrooms, bathroom and toilet. You can buy groceries at the club supermarket or bring your own, but they are not supplied with the accommodation, nor are bed linen and towels. There are also chalets, for even more comfort, if you want all the services and amenities of city accommodation. The best thing about the chalet is the garden or small terrace, perfect for relaxing after an exhausting day of games and sightseeing. Considered high standard, it's a little more expensive than a mobile home.
Either way, pack your flip-flops, beach towels and sun cream and come spend your best family holiday camping in Corsica!!!
