Why go on a camping holiday?
A big advantage, going on a camping holiday with family or friends often saves you money. The budget can vary depending on the type of accommodation, particularly starred ones: you can choose from 1 to 5 stars. In a 4 to 5 star campsite, you generally have everything at hand in your mobile home as well as inside the campsite such as a grocery shop, swimming pools, a water park, slides.
You are free to go outside the campsite to visit the nearby town, village or estate. Whereas if you choose a hotel, the night will cost a lot more and you won't have any activities and entertainment on offer for you and your children.
You're free to go outside the campsite to visit the nearby town, village or estate.
Camping gives you a change of scenery, you'll be surrounded by nature and greenery. You'll be able to forget the rituals and stresses of everyday life. For a breath of fresh air, why not head to Provence or the Ardèche?
Rules to observe when camping
Yes, even on a campsite there can be rules, but what are they? Above all, spending a camping holiday means living in a community in a relatively small space, so it's essential to enjoy your holiday while respecting your neighbours.
This means respecting other people's rest times, picking up litter when you have a picnic by the pool or on the beach, and dressing in a way that doesn't disturb other families. Children have a free choice of games on display and set up, despite the activity leaders present for their safety it is still necessary to remind them not to disturb other children, and to respect good manners.
If you bring your dog, it must be kept on a lead at all times, to ensure safety. Respect the communal premises, by cleaning up after yourself. When you leave the rooms, if the housekeeping option is not included in your booking, you will have to clean them in order to facilitate the work of the housekeepers.
The rules will be posted at the campsite reception, or even posted directly at the entrance to the mobile homes. In the event of an emergency, the police and fire brigade numbers will be displayed at the bottom of the rules. For safety in the water park and swimming pools, protect your children with armbands or lifebuoys. If you forget, you can probably buy some at the supermarket near the campsite.
What are the essential things to take?
To make sure you have a carefree stay, here's a list of essentials to bring to the campsite: towels, toiletries, washing-up liquid, sunglasses, sun cream, suitable footwear (walking shoes, flip-flops, etc.), swimming costume to enjoy the pools, water park, beach or lake a white outfit. The white evening is often a must at the campsite. Be prepared just in case! In particular, you can take card games with you to entertain yourself by the pool, or during the evenings.

Type of catering
In campsites you can find a wide choice of catering, such as food trucks, restaurants, bars.
You can find them in the poolside area, or in the centre of the campsites. Prices vary depending on the campsite's star rating, but also on the formula you choose and your meals at the restaurant. You can choose to cook for yourself in your mobile home. Supermarkets are close to the campsite, so you can go shopping and make star chef dishes.
In the campsite there is usually a grocery shop open during the day, with local products from the region where you are located like for example in the Pyrenees you will find the spit cake.
When to go
When it comes to enjoying your family holiday, opinions differ but many prefer to go during the summer to enjoy the warmth and good weather and the sun beating down on your skin. But spring and autumn are still very good times to go away, even in the off-season, because the low season is often very pleasant: you get the peace and quiet of the campsite, the cleanliness...
Even in summer it can rain and how can you keep busy during these rainy times?
The campsite has indoor areas with, for example, a weight room for sports enthusiasts, table football, pool tables and a zumba room. A spa, massage and beauty treatment area is also available.
What are the rates for a campsite?
The rate will depend on your selection and the stars chosen, for a mobile home in a 1-star campsite, you can find prices around 500 euros a week while for a 5-star campsite the price will be around 1,600 euros a week in summer. It also depends on the destination and the number of nights. Generally, in high season, you can only go for a minimum of 7 or 14 nights.
The price for a pitch with tent will also depend on the star rating, for a 1-star campsite the price will be around 15 euros, and for a 5-star campsite the price will be 50 euros.
