Family campsites in Rhône-Alpes
Familytrip travelled the length and breadth of France, but particularly the Rhône-Alpes region from Ain to Ardèche, via Savoie or Puy de Dôme. This rather mountainous region, along with Auvergne and the Alps, has no fewer than 12 departments! This makes the landscapes all the more diverse and varied.
The types of accommodation to rent at a campsite in the Rhône-Alpes region
Instead of renting a tent or caravan pitch, Familytrip has opted to rent fully equipped accommodation. Familytrip has selected mobile homes, fully-equipped tents, chalets, caravans... whatever suits your family's needs: more or fewer bedrooms, more space, more comfort (terrace or not), good value for money.... You'll find the family accommodation that suits your needs perfectly.
The mobile home is something of a star among campsite accommodation. In fact, it is ultra-optimised for surface area: just look at the number of beds for 25 or 30 m2! In a 6-place mobile home, designers manage to fit no fewer than 6 beds. So it's clear that the comparison with the tille of flats for living is not at all right, as someone else would say. Traditionally, a bedroom is at least 10 m2 and for a lucky child there's only one bed. In terms of number of rooms, it's more or less the same, but mobile homes generally have 3 to 4 rooms excluding the shower room.
In addition to mobile homes, you can now sleep in chalets, caravans, fully-equipped tents and even cabins! In some accommodation the beds can be on the floor or with a tiny footless bed base. It's reminiscent of the tent spirit of campsites in the early days. In fact, some campsites even hire out fully-equipped Canadian tents, which may have several bedrooms, a kitchenette and, in some cases, a shower room. Your camping heart must already be set on spending the night in this fully equipped tent.
To ensure a good value offer, we select campsites from 2 to 5 stars but most are 3 or 4 stars. It's in this range where the best accommodation is found with interesting facilities such as swimming pool, kids club, playground etc...
Equipment and services at campsites in Rhône-Alpes
A 2-star campsite does not offer the same services as a 5-star campsite... So we're kicking an open door, but you need to have this in mind before you book. If you're looking for a holiday with a water park, you'll inevitably be looking at a minimum of 3 stars. A spa? That's 4 stars or more. That's why most of the campsites we've selected are 3 or 4 stars. The information in the family highlights on the Familytrip search results pages helps you to sort campsites quickly. Use our filters too to get straight to the point if you absolutely want an on-site water park or kids' club. The water park can be very expensive so we advise you to choose the swimming pool filter, which includes the water park, heated outdoor pool or heated indoor pool, to compare prices more fcilemntly.
A little tip: as campsites rarely offer half-board or full-board options, we advise you to use the on-site restaurant filter. In fact, campsite restaurants rarely offer breakfasts, which are included in the full-board package, but they may still offer a dish of the day and a changing menu for those who want to go to the restaurant several times during the holiday week.
The activities on offer on site are detailed on the campsite page. But for activities close to the campsite, for which we have negotiated offers at very advantageous rates for our customers, we highlight them from the family highlights. In summer, most of our selected campsites are transformed into small villages: children's club, daytime entertainment, evening shows... This village spirit can be found on a daily basis in the alleys of Familytrip's family campsites: on the village paths you'll bump into each other, say hello warmly and even invite each other for the next aperitif or evening entertainment. Nights on the campsite are rather quiet, because we try to keep the noise to a minimum for those who want to party, and for families who want to rest peacefully in their beds. You can have a great week whatever holiday package you choose!
The Rhône-Alpes region, a very varied destination
The Rhône-Alpes region means Savoie and Haute Savoie. Yes, but not only that, far from it! Already on the Alps side you have small family resorts in Isère. Chamrousse, for example. In summer, it's a paradise for those who like to swim in a lake. There isn't just one lake in Chamrousse, but 3: Lac Robert, Lac Acahard, a quiet Natura 2000 area, and Lac des pourettes. There is even a hiking loop starting from Chamrousse, making for a great day out with the kids. But in the same region you have the Drôme at the gateway to Provence, the Cantal and its Auvergne mountains, and also the Ain and its atypical geography. Indeed since 2016 the Rhône-alpes region has been heard with Auvergne.
We've talked about lakes but we haven't mentioned the thousands of rivers that exist. You can fish, for example, on the Sioule river in the Allier to the very north near Saint Pourçain (known for its wine but not only). You can swim in the Gervanne river or the Roubion river in the Drôme. You're not at the seaside, but you can still cool off in summer with a lake or river. Depending on the destination, we'll give you more precise information about activities in the immediate vicinity of the campsites.
