Discover the region and family activities
The Drôme offers a wide variety of landscapes, from the mountains of the Vercors to the lavender fields of the Drôme provençale. The Vercors region is ideal for hiking, climbing and skiing in winter. The Vercors plateau offers spectacular panoramic views. The Drôme Provençale is famous for its lavender fields, olive groves and picturesque villages such as Nyons and Grignan. It's also a popular region for hiking and cycling. Whether it's hiking, mountain biking, climbing, canoeing or paragliding, the Drôme offers a multitude of outdoor activities for adventure-seekers.
Take a stroll through Valence, a lively city with a charming old town, museums, parks and renowned local gastronomy. Dominated by the highest keep in France, the town of Crest, around 38km away, is another place to visit. The town offers an authentic medieval experience with its cobbled streets and market. If you want to venture a little further afield, don't miss Le Palais idéal du Facteur Cheval, an original work of art built by Ferdinand Cheval, a self-taught postman, in Hauterives, a 1 hour 45 minute drive away. For gourmets, the cuisine of the Drôme is delicious, with specialities such as pogne de Romans, caillette, truffles, picodon (goat's cheese) and, of course, local wines.
