Welcome to the Dordogne! In the heart of the Périgord Noir region, Les Eyzies-de-Tayrac is an essential crossroads for discovering prehistoric traces and remains, most of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Résidence Le Clos du Rocher is around 56 km east of Bergerac and 70 km south-west of Brive-la-Gaillarde. With the Green Key label and less than 20 km from Sarlat, it's an ideal base for discovering the Dordogne's gastronomy and cultural and historical heritage.

Les Eyzies is often referred to as the prehistory capital of the world, due to the concentration of prehistoric sites in the region. Among the most famous are the Font-de-Gaume cave, famous for its cave paintings dating back over 17,000 years, and the Lascaux cave, known for its spectacular prehistoric paintings. Les Eyzies is home to several museums dedicated to prehistory, including the Musée National de Préhistoire, which displays an impressive collection of prehistoric artefacts found in the region, as well as exhibitions on human evolution and prehistoric life. Situated in the heart of the Vézère Valley, this is a magnificent area dotted with cliffs, rivers and forests. The valley is often referred to as the Valley of Man because of the density of prehistoric sites it contains. It's an ideal place for nature lovers and hikers.

Take advantage of your stay to tantalise your taste buds with foie gras, ceps, cabécou, Périgord walnuts, Périgord strawberries, duck confit, Bergerac wines and, of course, the famous truffle. There's plenty to do in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, including hiking, chestnut picking and truffle hunting.

    Positive points:

    "Nous avons profité d'un séjour très plaisant, avec des commerces à proximité et le centre-ville accessible en seulement 3/4 minutes à pied. La piscine était légèrement plus petite que sur la photo, mais cela n'a en rien entaché notre expérience. Le personnel était excellent, la petite salle de sport était un plus, et l'ensemble était parfaitement calme pour nous. "
