The village of Saumane-sur-Vaucluse is perched on a hill, offering panoramic views over the Sorgue valley and the Vaucluse mountains. Its typical Provencal architecture, with narrow streets and stone houses, makes it a charming place to visit. One of the highlights of Saumane-sur-Vaucluse is the Château de Saumane, a magnificent medieval castle at the top of the village. Dating back to the 12th century, the château not only offers an insight into the history of the region, but also contemporary art exhibitions and concerts in summer. In the area around Saumane-sur-Vaucluse, you can discover many other sites of interest, including the towns and villages of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Gordes. You can also discover the Abbaye de Sénanque, a 12th-century Cistercian abbey near Gordes, surrounded by lavender fields in summer, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting. Or the ochre fields of Roussillon, a spectacular natural site where the hills are coloured by ochre, offering unique and fascinating landscapes to explore on foot or by car.

For fun activities, the River Sorgue offers canoeing and kayaking opportunities suitable for all the family. You can hire kayaks or canoes and set off on an adventure along the river, admiring the picturesque scenery while enjoying a day in the great outdoors. Finally, don't hesitate to visit Parc Spirou, located in Monteux, around 40 minutes away by car, an amusement park inspired by the famous comic strips.
