La Mongie is located in the Campan valley, close to the Col du Tourmalet, one of the most emblematic passes in the Tour de France. It is part of the Grand Tourmalet ski area, which is the largest ski area in the French Pyr+ enées. La Mongie is best known as a winter sports resort. It attracts ski and snowboard enthusiasts in winter. The Grand Tourmalet ski area offers a wide variety of slopes for all abilities, as well as modern facilities such as ski lifts.

In summer, La Mongie also attracts visitors with its spectacular mountain scenery. The area offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. Close to La Mongie is the spa town of Bagnères-de-Bigorre, which is renowned for its thermal waters. Visitors can enjoy thermal treatments and relaxation in a natural setting.
