The Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, located between Normandy and Brittany, is a tourist jewel in the west of France, known for its exceptional natural, historical and cultural heritage. At the heart of the region lies Mont Saint-Michel, a rocky island topped by a spectacular medieval abbey. This monument, known as the Wonder of the West, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its cobbled streets, ramparts and Gothic architecture make the Mont a fascinating site, where history and spirituality blend harmoniously. The bay surrounding the Mont is a vast natural area unique in Europe, renowned for its spectacular tides, which are among the highest on the continent. At high tide, the Mont reverts to an island, while at low tide it is possible to cross on foot, accompanied by specialist guides, to discover the local flora and fauna. The bay is also an ideal spot for a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and sand yachting.

The area around Mont-Saint-Michel is home to many charming villages and small towns. Avranches, for example, is famous for its Scriptorial, where the abbey's ancient manuscripts are kept. Closer by, Pontorson is a starting point for visitors wishing to explore the region by bike or on foot. You can also explore nearby nature parks such as the Marais de Dol, or visit historic sites such as Dol-de-Bretagne cathedral or the châteaux of Fougères and Combourg, Saint-Malo and its ramparts and the Breton port of Cancale. The region is also renowned for its local cuisine. Specialities include salt-meadow lamb, reared in the salt meadows of the bay, and the famous Breton crêpes and galettes. Seafood, particularly bouchot mussels, is also an essential part of the local cuisine.
