Discover the region and family activities

Roquefort-la-Bédoule is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. This Provencal village lies between the sea and the hills, at the entrance to the hinterland, offering a natural setting that is appreciated for both its tranquillity and its Mediterranean environment. Roquefort-la-Bédoule is perched at an altitude of around 300 metres, surrounded by limestone massifs such as the Sainte-Baume. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The commune is bordered by garrigue, pine forests and vineyards. Its strategic position, between the sea and the hills, makes it a gateway to the famous Calanques de Cassis. Roquefort-la-Bédoule stands out for its natural heritage and its hiking trails, which are very popular with walkers. The GR 51, known as the coastal footpath, crosses the region. For those who prefer the sea, the Parc national des Calanques is a must, with paths leading to the calanques of En-Vau, Port-Pin and Port-Miou. The clear waters of Cassis and La Ciotat are also ideal for swimming, kayaking and scuba diving.

On the cultural front, the proximity of Cassis, La Ciotat and Aubagne means you can discover places rich in history and tradition. The old port of Cassis and the beaches of La Ciotat, as well as the ceramics museum and Marcel Pagnol's birthplace in Aubagne, are all worth a visit. In Aubagne, you can also visit the workshops where santons, traditional Provençal figurines, are made. Food lovers can enjoy the wines of Cassis, with tastings at the region's wineries, or discover local specialities at Provencal markets. Restaurants in the coastal villages also offer emblematic dishes such as bouillabaisse and anchoïades.
